Denby Village Conservation Group

The Group's monthly meetings at The George have now resumed at 11am on the 1st Saturday in the month.
Formal monthly litter picks have been suspended. Any help that members (& other villagers) can provide to keep the village litter free would be much appreciated.

Group Activities

Denby Dash

Denby Delf

The Group undertakes a number of activities throughout the year maintaining and improving the appearance of the village.

The Denby Dash is held in late August each year to raise funds for the group; featuring a 5 mile race around the countryside surrounding the village with two shorter races for children. The 2022 'Dash' is expected to take place on 29th August (BH Monday)

Denby Delf, also known locally as Mossley Roughs, has for many years been a nature reserve, as well as a place of recreation for the people of Denby.

Village Calendar

The Friends of Denby Church (FDC) are a group of villagers whose aim is to support the church and see the building well maintained and continue to be available and used by the villagers in the long term

A biannual event held for the first time in 2018; fifteen gardens in our beautiful village opened their gates for us to come in & enjoy.

The next Open Gardens will be in 2022 (date tbc)

Best photos from the annual photo competition appear in the Denby Village Calendar, with profits going to Group activities.

Local Walks

Denby Knitters Poppy Display

Denby has many footpaths fanning out from the village. A number of walks that pass through the village, have been collated by Denby Dale Walkers are Welcome.

In 2020 the Denby Knitters produced an outstanding display of knitted Poppies which adorned the village in November.
