Denby Village Conservation Group

Denby Delf, also known locally as Mossley Roughs, is an area of meadowland and heath on the outskirts of the village.

 

The area is now being managed by the Garganey Trust, a charity dedicated to nature conservation in Yorkshire which looks after special places for wildlife, that people can visit, learn about and enjoy. The Trust is working in partnership with the Denby Village Conservation Group to promote a wider understanding of the habitat and its wildlife through a number of initiatives, including wildlife walks and activities with the village school.

 

Visitors will soon be able to learn more about the birds, flowers and distinctive features that occur on Denby Delf through a series of interpretation boards that the Trust and DVCG are planning to put up in key locations on the site. These boards will highlight the impressive variety of species that occur in the heath, scrubland, meadows and former sandstone quarries.
